The Weekend.... starts here
The weekend is expected to busy ~ with my mum visiting tomorrow afternoon (after returning from 6 weeks in South Africa - mmmmmmm.... pressies), Jo's step-sister's 40th B'day tomorrow night, and then I have a burn-off with the other "bushies" on Sunday.

i could never do that. to me, to head toward a fire (rather than away) is the most courageous and insane thing a person can do. tj is currently taking a 'cert' (certified emergency response tech) training. she has like the firehose most of all, so far. she really wants me to take the class, and i will, but i'm just instinctively good in emergencies, and i know i will disagree with certain things they teach.
example: the first night of her class, she wanted us to run a drill - going from the bed to the front door, on our hands and knees, in under 30 seconds. i'm sorry, but if she is that out of control, i'm just going to go out the bedroom window (we're on the ground floor).
example: the instructor, teaching them how to triage, says that you tend to those that have a chance and leave the rest. if there is an adult in bad shape, and a 2 year old who is not likely to make it, you leave the 2 year old. well, i'm not going to let a 2 year old die on their own. just not going to happen. i will find somebody to hold him and comfort him, or i will take him with me to treat the adult's injuries.
so, i won't be talking a lot in class, but maybe i can learn a few more things.
