He survived
The son survived the dance, and it sounds like he even shocked girlfriend by "mannning up," as he put it, and standing up for himself a couple of times. Like when she wanted to sit between him and one of his friends, and then spent the whole time talking to the friend, and he was all, "Can we switch back?" and bingo, she didn't ignore him. Or like when one of the girls who is rather touchy and huggy came up to D and later girlfriend is all, "If she touches you again..." and he said, "Well, maybe if YOU touched me more often people wouldn't think they could touch me!" and she was like, "Oh, yeah, OK."
It really did sound like he had fun. Yay! Though he was annoyed no one took any pictures. I wanted to take some before they left, but K said not to be Those Parents. But it sounds like D and girlfriend would have been OK with that. Oh well. Next time.
