Drabble: Ready
Thank you so much to justinlovesart, secretsolitaire, astarloa for prompting me some drabbles! I love all your prompts, though I have to say justinlovesart yours is by far the hardest! secretsolitaire, I hope to have yours up soon.
Here is the first of the requested drabbles. This one is for astarloa The prompt was: I'll select your Queer as Magic Verse, with the prompt: woollen socks ;)

Ready
"These are hot," Brian says as he picks up a sleek, black knee-high boot.
"Dragon hide," Draco says off handedly and Brian snickers, never ceasing to be amazed even after all this time as he replaces the boot next to its twin.
Draco chews at his thumb nail, surveying the kit laid out on their bed. Everything, from the emblazoned, grey robes to the admittedly sexy boots to the tall woolen socks that go underneath are the standard issue New York City Auror Department uniform.
"You ready for this?" Brian asks, his voice just as soft as the hand that falls on Draco's bare shoulder.
"Top of my class, remember?"
"I know, but still…big day."
Draco pulls his eyes away from his hard-earned privilege, letting them fall on his partner's face. The concern is plain.
"I'm going to be fine," Draco whispers against Brian's mouth before brushing their lips together softly. "They'll have me on a safe assignment these first few months. Nothing that I'm not ready for."
Brian nods then pulls Draco against him, well aware that he, and not the one putting his life on the line everyday, is the one who may never be truly ready.
