Sorry about the delay, have been doing a lot of sleeping lately due to nasty cold. Still, better that this happened now rather than when we first arrived.
So. Photo time. I´m going to split these into several posts, so that you can choose what to look at. I´m sure that photos of family members hold little interest for some and huge interest for others. Also, don´t want to eat up everyones internetiness.
So, part one- family pics.
Note for the family in Spain- Si yo ha olvido nombres, o no escribalos correctamente, ¡cuentamelos, por favor! ¡Y muchas gracais por todo!
The Piza family in Australia the night before we left. We had this photo blown up and gave copies to everyone over here in Spain.
Oscar and I with his grandparents, Pepito and Isabel. They live in a nursing home not far from Oscar´s cousin Eva. We visited them every day when we were staying with Eva. Well, Oscar did anyway, I spent a couple of days being asleep when Oscar went to see them. They are both in their 90s and are in fairly good health for their age, so far as we could see.
Woah. That one took forever to upload. While it was doing so, I went and opened a bottle of cava, or traditional-method Catalan champagne. The top popped loudly and fell on the floor and I woke Oscar up. Oops.
Anyway, this is a photo of the Ubach side of Oscar´s family. So, unless I´m looking at the wrong photo, we have Eva´s son Albert, Eva, Bruno´s girlfriend Isa, Eva´s partner Monolo, Albert´s wife Rossi, Oscar´s uncle Albert, yours truly, Oscar and Oscar´s cousin Bruno. To explain who the hell these people are, Albert (senior) is Oscar´s mother´s brother. Eva and Bruno and his children. The grandparents in the last photo are the parents of both Oscar´s mother and Albert (senior, of course), and Eva, Bruno and Oscar´s grandparents. Confusing!
Much faster that time. Oscar, his aunt Lourdes, his uncle Miguel and me at a restaurant in their home village of Calders, in the mountains north of Barcelona. Miguel is Oscar´s father´s brother, Lourdes is his wife. The food was pretty good.
The lady in the bluish top with the blonde hair is Oscar´s mother´s cousin Nuría, and this is her family. From the left we have Goretti, her husband Frans, Maritxel´s son Jan (who did his best to poke my eye out with a menu last time I saw him!), the lovely Nuría herself, Maritxel (pronounced like ´Marie-Chell´, if you´re confused), Nuría´s husband Juan, Maritzel´s other son Nil (being cheeky, of course) Maritxel´s husband Joaquim, me again and Oscar again.
And finally, we have Nuría´s family and Oscar´s father´s family all together. Poor Nil was feeling sick (he has the same cold that we have, and he wasn´t the only one...). The people who haven´t already been mentioned are Oscar´s second cousin Enric (an extremely cool guy whose apartment we are staying in right now- we love you, Enric!), who is in the front row next to Maritxel, his sister María-Jesus, their parents (standing behind them- Enric´s mother is Oscar´s father´s cousin), Oscar´s cousin Tati in the back row (Miguel´s younger daughter), with Jan on her shoulders (Tati has also been exceptionally awesome to us- we´re going to visit her again tomorrow) and Oscar´s other cousin Aida (next to Tati. Aida is Miguel´s older daughter).
The only people we have missed are the two Gemas (one is Enric´s ex, who we´ve been lucky to spend some time with) and Eva´s little girl; and Oscar´s cousin Abram (Miguel´s son, hence Tati and Aida´s brother).
Phew! Lots of people! Might leave the rest until my next post. Hope they didn´t take too long to download for you.
As an aside, we´re both still sick, including bloody conjuncatavitis from random bits of consturction dust flying into the eyes. We still went to see the Picasso Museum today and drank some great cava and ate tapas at a famous champagne bar. Nice! We´re spending tonight in Barcelona, tomorrow night with Oscar´s uncle Miguel in the village of Calders and then boarding the night train to Italy on Thursday.
