Shopping Therapy?

I hear that phrase a lot, nowadays. I was browsing through BN a few days ago, torn between spending my last 3 dollars on books or a latte (books won-apparently, the $3 isn’t enough for the latte. I’ve been spoilt by flexpoints)…when I came across an entire SECTION devoted to this subject. It’s a sub-genre that has invaded popular fiction (gee, just ( Read more... )

Hi

Yes, so first comes the obligatory explanation for why some random person with a Dali painting as their picture (which at this moment is about all you know about me), is posting on your journal.. well.. I was bored (and obviously not studying or sleeping), and as such randomly browsing the live journal site when i saw a nifty button that said "latest posts" and i thought that just might be slightly amusing... and actually it was.. there were some really funny posts.. and then there were many in russian (or atleast in the cyrillic alphabet).. hmmm.. in anycase.. i just wanted to say hi.. being that i am a philosophy/theoretical physics major(s), and i thought your rant on shopping was interesting and with much truth... in anycase i was thinking of adding you to my friends list unless there are objections on your part...

oh yes.. my name.. mmmm, its: Wesley Sauret

*grins* Wesley?
Why am I thinking of "The Princess Bride?"

no objections :) I'll add you as soon as my computer lets me...darn thing about breaks is that I've be spoilt by a fast connection at school.

Philosophy/physics...how does that work? I played with a physics major for a while last year, but the intro level material isn't too compelling for me, and they'd hardly let me skip to the "interesting things."

yes that would be a favorite movie of mine, but unfortunatly it was made after my birth, so i cant claim to be named after him :)

You are on break? odd, all the semester schools i know of here in Ca dont have break for a long while.

MMM physics and philosophy, yes, they seem quite different from each other, and on the surface I'd be inclined to say that they are; but the way i look at it, is that they are just 2 different ways to look at the world, and if i am to have a decent view of the world, then i need as many perspectives as possible, being that each is biased in its own way.

Well, that..... and physics is just fun :), but i do know what you mean about the lower division work, but i think that the LD work is boring in pretty much every major (except philosophy, because i only have to take one LD class for that major, Woooo).

What year are you at ND? and how do you like it there? i was scared to leave the ocean, so that ruled out all inland universities :)

adieu,

Wesley

I'm a sophomore, but this is my first year at ND--transfer student.

I grew up in Chicago...so I do well enough in this God-forsaken weather. I love the ocean...but it's a novelty for me. This flat landscape...that's another story. It always bothers me.

Where in California do you live? What school, if I might ask?

(What is LD?)

Curious: What part of physics are you interested in? I loved (and still do love) cosmology...string theory, etc...even if I can't get my mind around the idea of 11 dimensions.
