Autumnwrite

I gave a quick heads up on this yesterday. The post was titled "Frustrated," however, I need to clarify something.

I'm not frustrated with autumnwrite. The frustration was completed unrelated to my "heads up!"

There are multiple reasons that I am leaving autumnwrite. A few date back to the beginning and how teams were chosen. But, most are more personal.

The biggest reason is as follows:

I am a very busy person this semester. So busy, that sometimes I don't have a "me" moment in the day. I don't need any added responsibilities, so I'm clearing myself of them - starting with autumnwrite. While I enjoy writing and most often choose it as the activity of my free time, that doesn't mean that I need to be "accountable" for my writing. I have several good things going with my writing right now, including Two to Write and a finished novel with my sister. Not to mention the fact that I am much more dedicated to my writing than I once was. I would be lying if I said that summerwrite2had nothing to do with this. It helped me out a lot and the goal of 150,000 words in four months helped spur me along.

Autumnwrite, however, is not doing that for me. I have become self-motivated and no longer feel I need to take the time to post my word count daily. In fact, some days it's more of a hindrance and takes away valuable time. I also feel that my goals are centered in a way that is different from autumnwrite. For autumnwrite, 500 words might not seem like a large amount for a day. However, if those 500 words finished a tough chapter, then it's a HUGE accomplishment. I would rather celebrate the accomplishments I make on my own than celebrate the fact that I got words down. Sometimes, those words aren't even related to the major things I should be writing on.

That all being said, I'm no longer participating in autumnwrite.

The only time I will be reporting any sort of word counts is for NaNo but that's because it's a competition on a whole 'nother level.
