Secluded, private spot in the woods [afternoon, prior to newsletter meeting] [NFB]

Rory had picked a very shady spot today and was lying on her back, fanning herself with a book and stretching out her feet in the hopes that they'd feel a little better after her workshop that morning.

And, naturally, she was waiting for someone. Why else would she hang out in the woods when she had an air-conditioned cabin?

Anakin leaned over to steal a quick kiss. "Thank you," he said softly.

Rory smiled. "So how has everything else gone? Aside from the time you've been spending with the supposedly cute girl. I don't think I need to hear about her."

Anakin laughed, then sobered up. "Have you talked with Molly recently?" he asked. "I ran into her in the gym yesterday."

Rory's expression went carefully neutral. "She's my cabinmate. Of course I talked to her. What'd you guys discuss?"

"Cam," Anakin replied, then watched Rory's eyes for a reaction.

Rory's eyes flashed and her lips formed a thin line. "Oh. She tell you all about that?"

Anakin nodded. "It's not very Jedi of me, but I want to beat him with a stick until he cries."

"I talked to him. Kind of," Rory said. "It was this weekend, so really I wrote at him. He knows that there are people who are less than happy with it. But at the same time, it's his and Molly's business, and I'm not getting more involved than that unless I'm asked."

"What does 'three strikes' mean?" Anakin asked.

It was part of this train of thought, really.

"It's a baseball thing," Rory said slowly. "The batter gets up to three pitches to hit the ball, and each time they miss one, it's called a strike. Three strikes and you're out, and someone else has to come to bat. Why?"

"Cameron told Molly she was his third strike," Anakin said slowly.

It all clicked together for him. "Can I beat him with a bat now?"
