"Honey, why?" Rory, why were you addressing your toddler on this matter? Because really. He's three, that's why.

"No pants!" Chris declared, frowning hard. "No. Pants."

Anakin sighed. "At least he's not throwing anything?"

"No pants, no cake," Rory reasoned, remembering her important toddler negotiation skills.

She glanced to Anakin, shrugging. "There's I-C-E-C-R-E-A-M to bribe with, too, if we need it."

"Cake?" Chris perked right up. "I like cake. Chocolate cake?"

"Pants, dinner, and then maybe cake," Anakin reminded him.

"Cake," Rory assured him. "But only if there's pants, first, Mister. Can we do that? I mean, look -- Daddy's wearing pants."

"Mommy 'n Juliet's legs don't fall off and they're not wearing pants," Christopher pointed out.

And now Rory was just going to sigh and regret dressing up for this. "Yes, but boys wear pants, sweetie." At least they did tonight. Tomorrow they could talk about any life choices he wanted to make for his future regarding dresses.

Chris processed that. "Jammie pants?"

"Fine," Anakin said. "It's better than greeting Obi-Wan in nothing."

"Jammie pants," Rory agreed, "and no cake until after dinner."

She was a really strict mom, clearly.

Chris's pout was astonishingly close to his father's, but he nodded. "Kay."

Anakin leaned in and kissed Rory. "Thank you."
