Rory had wanted to think that Anakin was being paranoid, as usual, about insisting she and Juliet move to the island. She had to work, they had a home here, and moving Vladdie and Bertie would be nothing short of a pain. Especially given how she was feeling these days

Jaye had spent most of her shift back in the stockroom, pretending to do inventory when really she was playing Tetris on her phone. Which while great for morale, didn't do much to help when she clocked out and walked outside... and saw the landscape disappearing in front of her.

It took her a second to realize that was happening, and she even turned to some oblivious shopper coming out of the store and asked if they saw that. They didn't. Of course they didn't.

When Jaye saw that whatever it was kept on coming, and that the parking lot with her car didn't seem to be there anymore, she muttered, "Fine. Fine," and annoyedly (was that a word?) picked up her phone and dialed a number.

And now her phone was ringing. Forgive Rory if this wasn't exactly welcome after the last few days. "Hello?" she asked hesitantly, even as a little voice in the background yelled, "Mommy phone!" helpfully. Thank you, Juliet.

"Rory! It's Jaye. Yeah, I know, I haven't called in a while and I suck and all. So hi, how are you, me? Oh, I'm fine, except it sort of looks like what the end of the world would look like if such a thing were to happen so WHO IN FANDOM DID WHAT."

It was either Fandom's fault or someone who Jack Harkness knew. Fifty-fifty shot.

"We're still figuring that out," Rory said, sitting down and resting a hand on her stomach. It probably was more guilt than morning sickness, but still. "Can you get to Fandom, like, now?"

[fates_jaye]

"Well my car's not there anymore, but maybe if I run really fast," Jaye said, and this would be her walking very briskly in the opposite direction from it since what was she going to do, stand there? She didn't know where all that black stuff had been, thanks. "I'm going to suggest less figuring stuff out and more fixing it."

"We're working on it," Rory said, trying not to get upset. Maybe Jaye could actually run fast enough! Maybe. "Run really, really fast, okay? Because we're still in temporary-solution mode, and it would be super-awesome if you just kinda booked your ass to Fandom as fast as you can."

[fates_jaye]

"You do know I'm kind of out of shape, right?" Jaye told her, looking over her shoulder and deciding she wouldn't be doing that anymore. "I can't tell you the last time I exercised when I wasn't good and forced to."

Leave it to Jaye to sound more annoyed and offended at the world than anything else.

"I'm pregnant again and I bet I could get here in time," Rory replied, because sometimes the way to spur Jaye into action was to taunt her. "Come on. You can't outrun a pregnant chick?"

"Congratulations. Get over here and we'll race," she shot back.

"You come here," Rory replied, trying to keep it light. "I'll bet you shots! Either way, you win, since I can't drink and you'd have to take mine anyway."

[fates_jaye]

Jaye paused. "I swear my legs are moving independently of the rest of me. They don't have ears, how did they hear 'shots'?"

"Fandom thing. Get here and we'll figure it out," Rory replied, gripping tightly to the phone.

[fates_jaye]

"Say 'shots' some more. That worked," Jaye encouraged her.

[auroryborealis]

"I'll make up a song about shots if you get here fast enough," Rory replied hopefully. "Shots shots shots shoooooottttsssss, shots shots!"

[fates_jaye]

"Oh god, don't sing, we're trying to prevent the end of the world here," Jaye said.

"Come and stop me?" That shouldn't have been a question, but Rory was worrying more than she wanted to let on.
