Writer's Block: By Any Other Name
If you could rename yourself in real life, what would you choose, and why?
haha. I don't think this entry is really necessary, but what the heck.
Aurora
Well, it's weird to think about about people calling me Aurora everyday, but I think it wouldn't be too outlandish. I started using Aurora a while ago. I can't even remember when. I think I was looking for log-in names and Aurora popped into my head. I don't think I realized until later that it's Sleeping Beauty's real name. That made it even cooler because of the symbolism of "waiting for my prince" and all that. Like those Barlow Girl lyrics: No more dating/I'm just waiting/Like sleeping beauty/My prince will come for me. idk. it worked for the stage I was in. Later on I found out that Aurora was the goddess of the dawn. Not only do I think of the dawn as a time of rebirth, but the mythology behind it tied to the meaning of my real name. Deanna means divine. It seemed like everything I found out of that name made an even stronger connection with what I wanted to stand for.
If I end up using a pen name later on, I want Aurora to be a part of it. Oh. another thing. Harry Potter made it that much cooler. Aurora. I mean, come on. amazing.
