That's why darling it's incredible/That someone so unforgettable/Thinks that I am unforgettable, too

I picked up the guitar again after a looong hiatus (my poor fingertips can attest to that). Although, granted, it's not as if I had made a lot of progress in learning to play even before school kind of killed my efforts for a while. That's all right though; it's just for my own enjoyment and fun.

Not much going on lately... Cat, Amorette, Sarah L., and I went out to the Edward's near school. We played around the arcade for a while, which involved a good amount of... zaniness, then we ate dinner and watched The Ant Bully. The movie was okay -- it had some amusing dialogue moments, but it wasn't terribly exceptional. At the same time, though, I didn't walk out of it with the feeling that I had just wasted the past two hours of my life, so that's okay.

I've been looking around the house and digging up a bunch of old music that I used to listen to when I was younger. And when I say "old," I don't exactly mean '90s pop boy-bands... I mean like Nat King Cole, Eva Cassidy, and John Denver. Most of what I listened to when I was that age was heavily influenced by my dad, thus accounting for the fact that probably few people under the age of forty-five know who Nat King Cole and John Denver were, and even fewer people outside of England know who Eva Cassidy was (even though she was really from the D.C. area).

Listening to this stuff again reminded me of that time some months ago when Emily asked me where I was "musically." I guess now I can safely say I'm somewhere between the 1940s and 1997.

Not a bad place to be at all.

Are you all enjoying the beginnings of the end of summer?
