Nice fic! I love these gen ficlets, and if there's a bit of speculation in them, all for the better :-) We (or at least, I) often forget that, in spite of being two of the most important characters in the series, Desmond and Ben practically never met. I wonder if this is just a coincidence or the writers are actually up to something... it's Lost, you never know!

He hates that there is rarely anyone else waiting there, that he can be made to feel like an annoyance, a disturbing break in the day of a busy man. He hates that all of this makes him act like a nervous idiot.

This is all very Desmond. There's a lot of class struggle about him and Widmore and, after all, Desmond has certainly a very insecure side.

Anyway, thanks for providing me my Lost fix for the day :-)

Oohhh, lovely twist there at the end! :D Somehow, reading it, I totally missed that it was Ben that he was talking to so that was fun. hehe.

Oh, this was better than I could imagine! Thank you, thank you, thank you! A great opening line and such a good impression of Ben from Desmond. I could clearly hear Ben's voice.

"We'll see."

I love that notion! I'm guessing the meeting did not go as planned or later the partnership broke up or Ben was simply there gathering information on his opponent.

Also this was such a wonderful ending. Omnipotent!Ben is one of my favourite Bens.
