First of all are vines for some reason cut the way that the act has to take place in the knee area. Which doesn’t sound all that bad, but the fact that it has to take place throughout 10-12 days from 9 am to 5.30 pm everyday except Sunday, makes the case totally different. It is actually many times you have to go down on knee to grasp these else well tasting bunch of grapes, and they are not exactly willing to jump of the vines and be cut off. Sucha fellow also produce great amounts of green leaves, which has to be cut off, to arrive to the mentioned bunches.

thats the first one.. i honestly think you can do better than me... tell if you want more..

Another twist is that these dark blue fruits are naturally filled with sugar juice which greases both hands and other body parts near the hands.
Further more, is the temperature often about 25-30 degrees Celsius, which make it a really humid business.
Not enough to be all greased of all that sugary juice, ones back protest so over this sudden load, that you almost have to crawl into bed, the first three - four days you do the work.

And next morning, after a nights sleep in a far too short bed, where you struggle not to get your toes wrapped in the end of the bed. (if you are one of those lucky ones who was so privileged to have sucha luxurious furniture - the greatest part of the castles vine pickers had to do with air mattresses they had to bring there themselves, which could possibly hold the air most of the night) - it is kind of a battle to get the sore muscles ready to a new day in the endless rows with waits out there.

the last bit;

But vine pickers must be a special kind, cause despite of these almost inhumanly suffering, are we ready every morning a little before nine - with a basket and a scissor ready in the pocket, ready for a new day in the burning sun, ready for another day with a back that protest madly about the inhumanly treading it’s owner gives it.

When we sometime in hopefully not too long are home in our usual surroundings and some presumptuous people would ask if we have had a nice vacation, then don’t be surprised if a very quick answer would appear, which probably would contain some of the above mentioned sentences ..

Au revoir from a persistent vine picker from odder youth school
