"I don't sweat," he told volunteers at Sasha Bruce House, a shelter for homeless teens in one of Washington's poorer neighborhoods. "You ever see me sweat?"
Other than the above quote, which makes Obama seem like either a robot or someone in dire need of an aerobics regimen, the speech and combined news articles today haven't hit me too wrong yet. I was a little worried when he mentioned 'the schools fail too many', but I'm hoping he meant it in a stronger educational backing kind of way instead of the intellectually-deadly PASS EVERWUN!!?! LOWER TEH SCOARS! sort of way.
I don't like what I'm hearing about his stand on gun control and gun/ammo taxing, however. I think it would be very hypocritical to boast the Constitution as he did in the inaugural speech, and then inhibit, by taxation or in any way, our right to bear arms and defend ourselves.
Either way, God help him. While my faith in politics is less than nil, and I believe much goes on behind the curtain as far as deciding all elements of sociopolitical concerns,I hope Obama can be at least a fraction of the hero people are making him out to be. Honesty is where you have to start, and the hurdle that seems to trip up all politicians.
We~ shall~ see.
