We beat Creek on our homecoming, Lake on their's and all sorts of unrelated cheering was going on because we had an excellent show in the cold. The hilarious thing is that none of the victories matter. Brook only wins games when a) the band isn't there (Brazoswood), or b) when it doesn't matter, like the Lake victory. I love the show more each time that I watch it, and it's hard to think that Summon the Heroes will be over after BOA semi-finals whatever.
But Bret See stopped by with ridiculously short hair, which was a shock all to itself.
More about that: We come to school around 3 AM to have a quick practice and get on the bus. Around 7 AM, or so, we'll arrive at San Antonio and take a quick stretch. Our performance is around 10 AM so I think we'll warm up before then. After our first show, we'll find somewhere to sleep (a church or a movie theater) and we'll eat at the mall. If we make finals, which I'm damn sure we'll do, we have another show in the evening, and wait there until they announce who won what. Now, I'm fairly certain we won't make Grand Nationals, but if in any event we do, we'll be damn happy. And then we jump on the bus and drive down to Houston, getting there around 5 AM. It'll be the most draining day of my life, but I can't wait.
As far as academics go, I've been doing a lot better in WHAP with the formation of a support group for the whole class and my finding a site that has outlines, notes, and practice quizzes for the chapter. Seeing as we do two chapters (roughly 40 pages of material) a week, don't talk about them, are expected to know the notes by heart when the test comes, and then don't even go over the test, it's really nice to know that I have a few A's here and there. I'm still in the C range, I believe, so I'll be working on that.
Latin's been a blast. I've mastered subjunctive for the most part, I've been scoring at least 200 points over the rest of the team at buzzer practice, and I'm splitting my time between Ancient Geo, Roman LIfe, and perhaps Mythology since I'm good at memorizing. We've been utilizing your giant folder, Anoop, and I'm finding more stuff at home. Damn you, Culbert!
I'm starting to find that Lisa likes to exaggerate the levels of pain I'll face when I'm wearing braces. I just got my rubber bands on to correct my over-bite, and she informed me that the pain will be intolerable. I wore them to the game, had to take them off to be able to play and I played pretty well after the soreness receded, and put them on afterwards. As long as I have Aspirin, they'll be fine. There's this thing about how every minute you have them off, it takes two minutes to fix. I'm used to them. The best part is, I'm entering the later stages of braces. I can't wait to get my retainer.
As a last note, my story's been doing incredibly well. The prologue's near perfect, or near as perfect as I would like, and after a few changes to Chapter 1, I can shell out 2 and 3 within the week based on my extensive outlining. Of course, watch there be another plot change part way.
As THE last note, JV A (my Academic Team ^_^) kicked royal ass at the last competition. We beat St. John's, our arch nemesis, as well as every other school by a margin of about 100-250 points per match. And we went undefeated. The best part was laughing as they struggled to move their little arms in suits while we wore our huge sweatshirts and ratty jeans. But I think they were more scared of Jason than of us, which is self explanatory.
Oh I am what I am,
I'll do what I want but I can't hide
I won't go, I won't sleep
I can't breathe until you're resting here with me
I won't leave, I can't hide
I cannot be, until you're resting here with me.
