Write Every Day: Day #5

Dec 05, 2016 19:28

Family visiting for a couple of days now, but I brought my laptop with me, so no delays to posting. Winter (ie. snow) happened all of a sudden yesterday, but today the weather's been kind of awful, with hard cold winds and very slippery roads. Would be perfect for staying inside and writing, if my brain was a little less tired...

Today's writing ( Read more... )

write every day

i am gonna just count the dates when it's 4th, 5th Dec, etc. Today I figured Yuletide fic was as good as it's going to get without external help, and stopped editing it and got it sent over to beta.

No new words, but I got a couple of Yule treats outlined (one of which currently says, "Boxing Day OT3"! but, uh, that totally counts as an outline?).

That makes sense, we're all over different timezones, so just when it's that day for you. :-) Yay for getting Yuletide sent over to beta! And outlining is good. Even very small outline. :-D I have treats I want to do, but I need to get at least the first draft of the assigned fic done.

Another busy day, another tiny bit of writing. Argh.

Sounds frustrating. Hope it gets better soon!

Eep, hard cold winds and slippery roads are no fun! I hope you can stay inside and be warm and comfy.
I hope that Yuletide fic of yours behaves soon! I've found reading very helpful when I'm stuck no matter where or with what in writing; for me, it works best if it's something entirely else, which just gives me new ideas, new emotions or practical ideas, depending on what I'm stuck or struggle with.
For me, again a day with just about 200 token words, as I was too busy to find any leisure. But without this challenge, I wouldn't have written anything at all, or sat down with my story, and having done so brought it onwards even if just a tiny bit. It feels good, if nothing else! :o)

Well, I like going out for a walk every day, so I did, but that's just my personal choice. :-D Otherwise I stayed snugly inside.

It's true, reading something entirely different often helps get your mind out of a corner.

I'm glad the challenge is helping you to get some writing done even on a busy day! Even if you write just a little bit each day, it's more than nothing and helps bring the story onward, and makes it easier to write once you have more time for it. :-)

This is definitely true! I didn't realise before what a difference it makes to keep in touch with a story in this way. :D

Still struggling to edit my Yuletide story. It is now nearly 7 K. Yowsers.

That's quite some wordcount! Mine isn't that high yet, but I worry what it will be... Good luck with the editing!

Yeah, this story kind of got out of hand. The basic premise was so simple. Suddenly I have half a dozen OCs (which is fine for this assignment - there are no canon characters requested) and a narrator I now realize is unreliable (took me a while to work that one out).

Hope the novel in planning research went well.

I wrote 500 words today, all of it for a blog post in a major review blog for my release at the end of the week. Feels cheaty but the business end of the publication game takes up a lot of time.

Well, it was mostly reading for fun, but it's something that might contain useful bits, too. It was good, in any case. :-)

Working for publication things is definitely important, too!

That's always good.

Yeah my publishing house wouldn't be pleased if I messed up this promo opportunity.
