Ooh, update!
It's already the end of week 6! College is going by really fast. ;__;
Mid-terms are coming up, and I seriously don't know what I'll be tested on in my classes. Japanese is next week and she says it'll be on just the stories we've read and the drama we've been watching. But I don't know how exactly how it'll pan out. I'll do my best though.
We've been watching the drama "愛しているといってくれ" (Aishiteiru to itte kure). From 1995, so Amuro Namie-esque clothes like crazy.
We're only watching 5 episodes, but as usual with dramas I get caught up in them and I went on a rampage to watch the rest of them. And the ending was annoying: First Hiroko turned into a HUGE slut which made me lose sympathy for her, then the 3 years later thing... uhhhh. Lots of unnessecary drama-bits. I picked up some Japanese sign language though. That's fun.
Ooh, speaking of dramas; as I have harddrive space again, I started watching current dramas via-Bitorrent again. I'm currently watching "薔薇のない花屋" (Bara no nai Hanaya) and "ハチミツとクローバー" (Hachimitsu to Clover).
The latter one I was awaiting since I first heard about because I LOVED Ikuta Toma in "Hanazakari to Kimitachi e". And It's got the Hawaiian girl from the "Attention Please" special (OF which, supposedly there's going to be another one?! In Australia? I didn't think it was THAT popular. But yay, I <3 anything Aya Ueto), so it's nice to see her doing other things. The drama itself isn't bad. I'm on episode 3, and the conflicts are... interesting. The Hagumi character is kinda annoying. Maybe when she starts talking more she'll be more bearable.
I'm really into "Bara no nai Hanaya" though. It's kinda overly dramatic, but I like the storyline so far. It's my first drama ever with a SMAP member (Katori Shingo), it's got a member of F4 from Hana Yori Dango, and the BEST, it's got Momoe's husband Miura Tomokazu! And this dispells the bad taste the two 70s movies I've seen with him and Momoe, because here he actually CAN act. (Those movies were pretty horrible.) Plus SMAP guy is really good. Plus I wanna know where the overly complex/dramatic storyline will go.
And Aya Ueto's lined up for another drama in the Spring. She going to be a lawyer! I'm excited. Fierce lawyer Aya = <3.
OOH, so what about that Arashi first day sales thing? 188,456 copies in the FIRST DAY?! (Even crazier, Hikki's #2 spot sold a mere 14,882.) That's nearly as much as their last 2 singles had for their first week sales. I like the song and all, but I didn't expect it to do so well.
I wonder if there any major development in the general public liking Arashi that I missed. Or if everyone just want to go get that single. Those are CRAZY numbers for the first day. Especially compared to Hikaru Utada, because while she doesn't sell as well as she did in her heyday, she hardly sells horribly.
Speaking of Hikki's single -- It's currently one of 2 songs I'm a big obsessed with. (Watch it!:

I really liked the coupling song "Stay Gold" when the clip first popped up on her site, but after listening to that whole song, it isn't as good the clip made it out to be. BUT the main song "HEART STATION" is GORGEOUS. Nice and mellow. I'm glad she's still got steam in the song writing abilities, where Ayu lost my interest back in 2005. ^^;;
And OMGoodness, the second one is Big Bang's "마지막 인사" (Last Goodbye). (Video:

CRAP I love Big Bang. I thought my obsession with "거짓말" (Lies) was just a fluke. I don't like boybands (save for Arashi and from what I've heard SMAP), and especially Korean boybands. (H.O.T, DBSK, etc etc. All no thanks!) And that was just one good song that caught my attention after watching Wonder Girls and Big Bang's special stage too many times. (Which is an AWESOME peformance:

AND I adore T.O.P. I don't really care about the other members, but ever since the special stage his interaction with (Wonder Girls rapper) Yoobin [Video around 5:00 - ooh I still get chills even after watching it 50+ times], I keep taking notice of how awesome he sounds. I not a good connoisseur of rapping, but his is lovely. But he's the same age as me, and he's the oldest in the group. And Yoobin was born in 1988. What happened to pop idols being born 10+ years before me? I feel so old.
OOH, and I don't think I mentioned this yet. More pop music love: Alizee's new album is better than her first 2 (as a whole). FANTASTIC songs. I never was able to get into French pop, but if she keeps putting out music this good and this solid I don't really need to worry about not having French to listen to. "Lilly Town" is hands down my favorite, but SERIOUSLY it's all good. The 4+ year wait was worth it.
And more in the Europop, Britian's Girls Aloud is equally awesome. Pop in English ISN'T dead! I got their best of album and their newest album "Tangled Up". Both lovely. But I seriously can't stop listening to "Tangled Up". "Call The Shots" is what made me take notice of them, "Can't Speak French" has such a good beat, and "Girls Overboard" may be my favorite by them. Awesome.
In other words, I really like some of the music that's coming out now. Hooray!
Ahhh, I wrote a lot. And mostly on pop culture. That's great. But what else is to be expected? It's not like I really do anything in my life anyway. Ah, I'm so boring. ^^;;
