Note: Here's hoping I got Amy's character all right, her muse made a surprise visit and is content to stay. Actually, writing this made me like her character more then I had when I first got into the fandom. Please, do enjoy it. Feedback, as always is welcome. :)
It was a peaceful and rare day. The weather was nice and for once Eggman, and his schemes, were not to be found anywhere. Of course, this generally meant that he was busy thinking something up but for now that thought didn’t matter. Not taking a day like this lightly everyone had found themselves on a beach; thanks to a certain pink hedgehog. Amy Rose took in a deep breath, enjoying the sea breeze and the sound of the waves lapping up against the beach shore. It hadn’t been an easy task convincing the others, especially Sonic, to come but in the end she had gotten them all there none the less. She had even managed to get Shadow and Knuckles to join in.
While she would have preferred being on a beach alone with Sonic, she knew that it was impossible at this time. However, it was still the beach right? Romantic things always happened on a beach. Amy would just have to wait for the right moment. After all, Sonic couldn’t keep ignoring her feelings forever. Sooner or later her time would come. She just had to patient.
Amy frowned at that thought. How long had it been since she first started to chase after him? Sonic always seemed to be running away, always one step ahead of her. Even when he wasn’t saving the world, he was always running. Amy thought that she finally had him today; she had thought a lot of things through. She knew how much her beloved Sonic hated the water. While everyone was playing and having a good time in the water, who would be there to keep Sonic company? None other then but her! Sonic would be so grateful that maybe….just maybe..
Amy gave out a girlish giggle as all the possibilities ran through her head. The pink hedgehog glanced around, trying to find Sonic, only to have her eyes land on Knuckles and Shadow. She couldn’t but feel envious of the two. While it looked they like they were having a normal conversation, Amy knew better. The way they were standing so close and the way they were simply interacting spoke volumes. She would have never thought that those two could hit it off so well but they did. They looked so natural together.
Amy wanted someone and something like that. Someone who would always stand by her side and keep her company even on the worst of days. Someone who only had eyes for her alone; her soul mate, her companion. She wanted that innocent happiness only lovers knew of. If those two could be happy together, why couldn’t she? It seemed so simple to love, to hold that gentle look in your eye like Shadow had only when talking with Knuckles, and yet Amy knew just how complex everything could get. It was the ultimate paradox. She sighed; Knuckles and Shadow didn’t know just how lucky they were to have that happiness. Or perhaps they did? After all, those two probably understood more then anyone else what it truly meant to be alone. It was uplifting, at least to her, to realize even the loneliest of souls eventually found some form of love.
Amy pulled herself out of her musings making up her mind finally and started to make her way to where Sonic was talking with Tails. She just couldn’t sit around and wait for fate to finally get to her. Perhaps this was going to take more effort the she first realized. Yet if the end result meant that she could have what Knuckles and Shadow had, then it would all be worth it. Amy couldn’t help but smile brightly as she walked by them. She was sure that they had no clue that she had just learned a valuable lesson from them, all from looking beyond the surface of appearances. If shetruly wanted Sonic like she did, then she would have to make this the day. Should she fail, then she would put forth even more effort next time. Some things were simply worth it, even if no one else could see it.
