Lol um yea, just a fic for a mate. ^^;; I did it while waiting for the internet to come back online. (It's STILL acting funny piece of shit. There is a reason why I have cable damnit, you're supposed to work!! >.<) So Raine-Kun you can sorta think of this as a peace offereing? o.x

Enjoy. It turned out pretty cute and fluffy if I say so myself. =D (I think I kept Siren in character ^^;; sorry if I didn't!)

Innocence
Light flurries were floating down from the grey sky, the wind blowing them into a graceful soundless dance. Despite the cold it created a scene of peacefulness and the atmosphere was alive with Jack Frosts’ wintry gifts. The month of December was indeed a cold one, probably one of the city’s coldest yet. Aside from the cold it was a nice day, depending on if you liked winter or not. However not many people seemed to keen on enjoying the weather, they were more intent on getting home and doing whatever it was that they did.

The same could almost be said for a young man quickly walking against the wind, his aqua green hair blowing behind him in a rippling wave. He blended in with the crowed, his light blue eyes seeing everything but not bringing attention to himself. Siren was of a small build for someone of 16 years and that helped keep attention away from him. Of course, it didn’t help matters that he was thinner then a rail, an effect from when he had been brutally raped by that bastard Error. He found he couldn’t eat nor hold anything down after that had happened, not that he wanted to anyways. He had been more content to just stay in his little house and practically stave to death. Back then, he would have welcomed death with open arms- again. After all, he had been dead once, and the only reason he was back among the living was to appease some work of a system that was falling onto itself.

However his life HAD gotten better. Much better. After he had moved on from the rape, physically and mentally, he made an honest attempt at life. He didn’t believe in any system and felt that those that existed were only destined to fail. So he figured that if he left things alone, they would leave him alone. Of course, this hadn’t happen, since when did life go as you expect to? Sure there had been hardships, some of them were pretty damn harsh. But he had overcome them all, however not without the help of a young woman who Siren held dearly to him now.

Siren had met Rika Madison by accident; he had stumbled into the woman’s presence one day when trying to keep away from Error. He would probably never forget the next hour that followed for the rest of his life. The first thing that he had noticed was her eyes. They were a beautiful blue, but the coldest he had ever seen. Her hair was long, down past her shoulders and was a light corn silk color that he hadn’t seen much of before. She looked only a few inches shorter then he was, but something told him that she wasn’t a push over. Actually the tone in her voice told him that as well. As it turned out Rika was a well off author and was in the midst of getting some personal time away from her book signing swarm in the front of the swarm when Siren had came along so he could understand the annoyed look he was getting. Her gaze, that held strong dislike and distrust, never changed; even after Siren had reassured her that he wasn’t a warped stalker or anything. He was a bit surprised and curious at how much one person, a women no less, could hold so much dislike for a complete stranger.

Apparently Siren was an odd mystery to the aloof Rika as well because she seemed to want to know more about him. She had surprised him when she agreed to an invite for coffee. After that day, things went on to end up with them in a new and tentative relationship. Both had offered themselves but yet protected certain things, the fear of being hurt to strong to over step. Siren of course had been through hell because of Error, and Rika had practically been used from some deadbeat about 4 years back. Both incidents had changed their lives forever and they weren’t eager to make another drastic and painful change. Neither was exactly eager to admit to love either. After all, in today’s society love seemed like a mockery and more or less was just a empty word to most people.

So they moved slowly, and 6 months later things seemed alright, both admitted to their feelings for one another and told one another all their secrets. Siren was out looking for a Christmas present now for his girlfriend. He had been surprised to how well she had accepted who he really was. A rather forceful gale of wind forced the 16 year old out of his musings long enough to realize just how long he had been out. He had already been out and about for two hours now and had nothing to show for it. He had limited funds but for once money wasn’t the hold back. Siren sighed as he paused on the door step for an old and abandoned house. He hadn’t been able to find one thing for her. Nothing spoke out to him; nothing seemed to fit what she liked. Maybe the problem laid in the fact that he had never really done this sort of thing before and perhaps he was doing something wrong? Whatever the cause it was frustrating!

A faint noise drifted by his ears and Siren’s body automatically stiffened, his senses on full alert. Confusion graced his features as he heard it again. What in the hell was that?! He looked around almost frantic like and couldn’t see anything. As his left foot hit something the teen startled and looked down. He was surprised at what he saw to say the least.

“Hey little fellow, how did you get here?” Bending down and speaking softly Siren bent down and picked up something.

It was a small kitten, probably no younger then 2 months. Most of its fur was a tan looking color while its small paws were a darker brown. Running a hand of the kitten’s body proved that its fur was a soft and gentle feeling. Siren let out a chuckle as he brought the little kitty to eye level with him. The kitten’s eyes were a piercing blue, not far from Rika’s and at the moment the kitty mirrored Rika’s annoyed expression and mewed at him. No doubt the little fellow was cold. Looking down at the now empty box he noticed that it had written on one side “Free”. Siren frowned a little bit, sure no small kitten could have gotten out but being so small they would have easily froze to death. He gave the baby in his hands another look. The feline reminded him of Rika a lot, personality and otherwise, so what would be the harm of giving him to her? The worst that could happen was that she rejected it completely but something told Siren that that probably wouldn’t happen.

“Alright then, I guess you’re coming home with me then.” He carefully tucked the kitten into his coat pocket, where the kitty became quite content, happy that it had found some warmth.

Pleased that he had found a gift for Rika, Siren made his way back to her flat. He stopped only to pick up a bit of light blue ribbon to tie into a bow around the kitten’s neck. A quick 20 minute ride on the bus dropped him off about 5 blocks from Rika’s flat and Siren made a quick walk into the building, as the temperature had dropped even more since he had left. He stepped in the elevator and got out on the second floor. Walking all the way down the hall he quietly opened the door on the end and silently walked in.

The sounds of busy typing greeted Siren’s ears, making him almost cringe. Rika’s flat was also her ‘studio’ so to speak, and when she was working on one of her manuscripts she could get a little cranky. He couldn’t blame her for working hard at something that was her reason for existence though, and knew just how precious writing was to her. He walked into her writing room, which also served as the living room to let the girl know that he was there, knowing that sometimes Rika got into her work and didn’t realize when he was there or not.

The typing stopped and cold blue eyes met his lighter ones. In the beginning he might have been daunted by the coldness, the hidden loneliness and bitterness that were in those eyes. Now though, after time had drawn them closer, he knew that all that was part of her, of her soul. Siren knew that Rika tried hard not to look so coldly on him, but it was difficult. It had become a part of her lifestyle, and a form of protection. He smiled when he noticed that her eyes looked warmer now as she smiled back at him.

“I was beginning to worry; you’ve been gone so long. You look half frozen.” Rika chided as she stood up from her desk and stretched her muscles from hours of sitting at a computer.

“Yeah well, I had to find the perfect gift for you.” Siren gave a sheepish grin, it didn’t matter if what he said was corny, it was the truth.

“I told you that you didn’t have to get anything from me Siren. You’re probably going to catch a cold from being out in the elements for so long.” Rika led her boyfriend over to the fireplace to warm up his pale skin. The fact that she had worried over him spoke volumes enough.

“Well I think it’ll be worth it.”

With a shy grin Siren pulled out the kitten out of his coat pocket. He watched the puzzlement on Rika’s face shift into realization and then surprise as the kitten yawned and looked up at the girl. Siren gently handed the small kitten over to Rika and watched her face more. Her eyes were lit up and they looked gentler then Siren had ever seen them. He had a feeling that this was how she must have looked before she had been hurt so bad.

“…He’s beautiful..thank you Siren. I love it.” Rika had torn her eyes away from her precious gift to look up at him.

Siren smiled and kissed her, letting actions speak for him. They had already come so far along now and he had a feeling that this was something that was going to last. Sure he still had a lot to shift through. He had against him over 5 cold years’ worth of ice but Siren also knew that Rika held a certain innocence to her that was quite evident. She still treasured life and as time passed she would come to give Siren more of an understanding of himself and of who he really was as well.

Innocence can be stolen, but it can never truly be killed as rebirth is always with it.
