Daniel = Desmond? Y/N
In doing that "Alphabet Meme", I discovered a disturbing correlations between Daniel Jackson of Stargate SG-1 and Desmond of Lost. I'm not saying they're the same guy...but it's just pretty weird how their bios seem to parallel.
This is in no particular order, since I'm a more casual "Lost" fan and don't remember details of a specific show.
At one point, Daniel Jackson is treated as a crackpot for his theories about the pyramids.
At one point, Desmond is treated as a crackpot for his knowledge about time travel. (Yeah, this one's a stretch).
Daniel Jackson met the great love of his life, Sha're/Shau'ri, before one was torn away through bad circumstances (sucky timing) and the machiations of evil goa'uld.
Desmond met the great love of his life, Penelope, before one was torn away through bad circumstances adn the machinations of evil men (Penelope's bad daddy).
Daniel's main motivation through a large character arc is to find Sha're again.
Desmond's main motivation through a large character arc is to get back to Penelope.
Daniel spent time wanting to learn the meaning of life and even liked hanging out in a monastery.
Desmond was a monk for a period of time.
Daniel's life was changed meeting a man named Jack (O'Neil/O'Neill).
Desmond's life was changed meeting a man named Jack (Shepherd).
Daniel's teammates look to him for wisdom about alien cultures.
Desmond's islandmates look to him for information on WTF is up with this island?
Daniel jumped onto a bomb and sacrificed himself to save a planet.
Desmond jumped onto a bomb and sacrificed himself to save Earth.
Daniel didn't die from said self-sacrifice--(he became a glowy jellyfish)
Desmond didn't die from said self-sacrifice--(he went all wonky with time)
Daniel had amnesia for a time after returning to his friends.
Desmond got confused--and at a different time had amnesia to his friends.
Daniel knows things after he's ascended he shouldn't know (Orpheus)
Desmond knows things after he's travelled in time he shouldn't know (Charlie)
Oh yes, and how could I forget:
When Daniel is first post-glowy, he's found naked by the Vis Uban natives.
When Desmond's first post-time travel, he's found naked by Hurley.
So, whaddya think? I'm sure I'm forgetting others.
