OOTS Book and Game!
Okay, so I know I have not updated for a while, but something happened last night that deserves an entry.
We received in the mail the most recent Order of the Stick (OOTS) book "No Cure for the Paladin Blues" and the board game "The Dungeons of Dorukon"! Unfortunately the game box was damaged when we received it, but it is still very very cool! I cannot get over the work that must have gone into making that game. There are over 500 colour cards, many of which have panels from the comic strips on them. The game looks like a lot of fun, and we will hopefully get to try it out soon!
In other news, Ian and I bought a new roof last Saturday. We got a leak in our old one, and since we were planning on replacing the roof next year anyway, we decided just to do it now. We bought an aluminium roof, instead of asphalt, for a number of reasons. Our new roof is made of 98% recycled aluminium and should last in excess of 100 years (it has a lifetime warranty as long as we own the house). It means that nothing needs to go to the landfill. As well, it has a high reflectivity coating on it, which means that the sun will reflect off the surface instead of being absorbed by it. The advantage to this is a lower roof surface temperature, which in turn lowers the amount of heat entering the house in the summer. It is my first step to making my house more sustainable, and I am very excited!
Nothing else too exciting is going on. We finally have furniture in our office (instead of small temporary desks), which is nice. I feel like I work in an office again!
