I also absolutely agree with you when you say they are two completely different Who's. That's how I had to go into S5 because I am so in love with Tennant. I had to approach it as a whole new show so that I wouldn't set it up to disappoint me. It definitely has not, I really love the new stories just as much. I'm actually more attached to the companions than I am to Eleven.
I haven't read tons and tons of meta on the RTD era but a few negative things here and there I've read makes alot of sense to me. I think there are some very valid points too. If I was going to bitch about any part of his era it would be S3 and the transition after Rose but I think no matter what there would have been backlash *shrug*
I'm a giant big ball of love overall for the show though. It's angsty and emotional but there was definitive payoffs and follow through with all the loose ends for each Doctor. I appreciate that kind of attention and reward to the viewers. I hope it keeps up!
