[The book starts recording just in time for a loud crash to issue somewhere in the near background. It sounds like a metal pan hitting a tile floor.]

Woops! Sorry about that. No harm done...

[A few seconds pass, as she picks up the pan (and presumably cleans up what was in it).]Anyway, what I was going to say is, if anyone should happen to run ( Read more... )

Oh! That reminds me, I had to pick up some things at the library, anyway. So...if I see anyone by that description, I'll pass the message on.

Thanks very much. I'm sure you know how it is, he gets distracted and loses track of time... I'm Tonks, by the way.

[Chuckle.]

That happens to me often, whether reading or not. I'm Rydia of Mist. Tonks...that doesn't sound familiar. Are you new?

Nice to meet you, Rydia! I'm a New Feather, yeah. Couple of weeks now. So's Remus. It sounds like you and he would get along pretty well!

I'm...not a New Feather, by any stretch. I've been here since February.

If I see him at the library, I'll definitely say hello. It's always nice to meet more people here. Do visit there also?

Oh sure, I've been there a few times, but I like to be outside a bit more, running around and all that. Remus is much bigger on reading than I am.

I prefer the outdoors too, actually, but now that it's getting colder, the idea of curling up with a book does have its appeal. There's so much to learn about all these different worlds, not that I can keep half of it straight.

Yeah, I think I'll let Remus and Hermione pore over books about other worlds. Interesting to hear about them from the others, though.

So you're from a place called Mist?

That's right! It's a small town of summoners. It's named after the being that can be summoned to protect us...not that it does any good here. Those Malnosso and their restrictions.

Heh, I can imagine.

I've met one or two others here calling themselves summoners. Though, I s'pose there are lots of different kinds of magic users here, too, and we're definitely not all from the same world. Wonder how all these different kinds of magic can work in the same place, though.

I only know about two other summoners here -at least summoners who summon like I do- so that sounds about right. There could be more, but it's not like I've taken a survey.

...and I wonder that, too. It's a little strange, all these different magics meshing in the same place. What kind of mage are you, then? I don't suppose you'd be familiar with black or white magic?

Dunno. We just call ourselves witches and wizards. Most magic is just magic, though of course destructive, hurtful magic is Dark Magic. In fact, back home it's my job to help catch Dark Wizards and stop them from using Dark Magic - we're called Aurors.

The black magic I meant doesn't sound the same, it's just a term for elemental and other battle magic.

We don't have Aurors in my world--but that sounds very important. And who knows, it could come in handy. I keep hearing about this dangerous man called Kefka, who's very skilled in magic.

In my world, magic is magic. The only thing that makes it good or bad is how it's used.

Yeah, he seems like someone to watch out for. There are a couple people from my world like that, too.
