In FFX, Isaaru says that he looked to Lord Braska as his idol and role model. It was part of why Isaaru was so gracious to Yuna, although that seems to be his native idiom.
It hurt me so much to have that courtliness, that graciousness stripped away from him in X-2. He wasn't as skilled a summoner as Yuna, and too easily duped by Yevon, but that was the tragedy of the character: someone who was a good man, who really did have more than a passing resemblance to Braska, betraying Braska's daughter and losing his way.
That was one of the many reasons this tale demanded I write it. I wanted to bring that Isaaru back. I'm glad it's working!
I'm almost too distracted by the fact that you *drew art of Paine and Nooj* to even notice that there's a story here... :D But I'll try. Nicely done; you handled them really well -- their past, why Nooj stayed away, the revelation of the scar. I am pleased!
The Auron and Isaaru scene is excellent as well. I enjoy the details of their coup, the revelation of how Anima is slowly destroying Isaaru from the inside (and the name you chose for her).
Finally, this is not too long at all. Neither of those scenes would have made a chapter on their own, and they complement each other nicely. I approve of keeping them together.
Come to think of it, this entire chapter is your fault, since your "What happened to Lord Mika?" question forced me to retcon that issue and write Isaaru's Mika Monologue in my backstory file after posting chapter 2.
(It is here much abridged. Necessary, but I think I may go back and massage this chapter a tiny bit; I had hacked out as much as I could bear of both conversations because I was afraid the chapter was dragging on, but I think I pruned away some of the color.)
I keep peering at the Paine sketch and being immensely pleased, even though that's totally not her nose and mouth. The mood feels exactly right for how I picture her here, once she's sorted out her heart.

I'm really loving your Isaaru. He's so true to the Isaaru I see in FFX; a man of gentleness and honor...
And, Auron...how this Pilgrimage must be tearing his soul to shreds.

Oh, boy...
It looks like the circumstances leading to his aquiring Anima are vastly different from how Yuna could aquire Anima in the original game.
What happens when Anima finds out he *ISN'T* Seymour?

Dang, I've got a lot of plot threads flapping about, and I'm running out of time to resolve them!

Anyway, thank you.

"Hmm" is the right answer. ;)

That is a compliment.
It's funny -- I've been replaying FFX-2 lately, and it's astounding how many characters you've utterly remade for me. Isaaru, in particular.
