So I'm sure you're wondering about this, so I'll start with it: thumbs up on your handling of the Crimson Crowd, and also their first attempts to start up Vegnagun. I love this idea that Baralai has been practicing with it, just in case, and also the Paine-Nooj-Pacce-Shuyin fight at the end, and the threat of the battle waking up Vegnagun. Well played.
I enjoyed the first part, too, with Auron starting to realize the connection between Shuyin and Tidus (and have you decided how to work that? The game actually leaves the "why" part there pretty open).
15 more chapters? You really are writing an epic! :)
I think I'm going to do an utter cop-out on why Shuyin looks like Tidus. The characters here don't have a clue, and neither do I. For once, Auron isn't going to Know Everything

You're welcome! :) And I'm glad to hear that they're coming more easily for you now. I'm sure spending more time with them, inthe form of watching the videos, helped. A replay would probably help even more. I'm finding that this FFXII replay is doing wonders for my ability to envision the characters and settle into the world of Ivalice.
I am also in love with the Crimson Squad, and I'm always happy to spread that love a little further. ;)
I am glad it works. I was afraid dragging the Shuyin Showdown out to yet another chapter would kill the momentum I had built up in the last two. Unfortunately, various characters demanded a little time to react to what's happened in the chapters since the airships touched down.
I can't believe musician!Baralai actually worked, and served to deepen my characterization/backstory for him. But you were right, and it's fun to write!
I wish I had a more coherent, poised response but this'll have to do.
I love the treatment you give the operation of Vegnagun. Vivid, ethereal and fitting.
And oh, Shuyin. Gaaah. I really need to replay and actually play through the CS4 scenes -- I don't remember him having such clear malevolence, but then y'know. He did shoot a bunch of people randomly and then try to destroy the world, so. Hmm!
15 more chapters?! Th-this is already one of the longest pieces of fanfic I've read. And yet I don't seem to have a problem with this at all! Hah.
Oh, and how Elma was able to tell Shuyin to eff off -- that she wasn't giving in to despair? Tells volumes about your Elma. Very good bit of character development, methinks.
Re: Elma's "I'm not gonna let some crazy unsent tell me what to do about it". The irony being that Auron helped her figure out what to do about it, or she probably wouldn't have been able to shake Shuyin off. In the game, only Yuna manages to shake Shuyin off on her own; even Rikku can't. (See below

Now that Vegnagun is up and running, just how much of Bevelle will be left standing when all the shooting's over?

Remember a classic Final Fantasy game: there's always 3 climaxes and/or 3 endgame bosses. :)

I know how Final Fantasy works too... :P
Although you're doing far better at this than I ever could.
Anyway, I wonder how Auron felt upon being on the receiving end of Slice and Dice; and if he realized anything...important...about Shuyin from this...
Looking forward to all those extra chapters... :P

It's bugging him. It doesn't make any SENSE, though...

But now that I think about it, you've given me an idea.
Do I, or don't I?
