TITLE:
Who the hell is DCP and why is he getting all my money?
ABSTRACT:
In which a scientist (test subject
auroleus) investigates the mechanics of working for the state for a summer. Namely the effect it has on one's paycheck, which are largely negative.
INTRODUCTION:
So, today was payday. Which has, unfortunately, become "that day that means I can pay all the bills and/or buy groceries" and not "Whee! Day of yay! &hearts!" like it used to be. I'm now working more or less full time for the good state of California, which, in its goodness, has decided that my status as a state employee means that I shall undoubtedly require a state pension. Thus the deduction of some seven or eight percent of my paycheck, much to my considerable indignance.
Damn it, I wanted that thirty bucks. I earned it.
RESULTS:
Ah, well. I'll live. Probably.
My landlord issues continue and are no longer worth discussing, as they also continue to piss me off. There was copious amounts of baking, which were appreciated by the department, my roommates, and an old co-worker of mine from the bookstore whom I randomly met while walking to the bank.
Also, because I promised to post these, here we go! The transition between Firefly and Serenity. In which we see the return of a forgotten character, Wash/Zoe shipping, meet the hands of blue dudes, watch Simon actually do something that isn't sticking his foot in his mouth around Kaylee, and Mal gets punched. (Possibly more than once, I don't remember.)
Fates, Joss Whedon is a genius.
Serenity - "Those Left Behind Volume 1" Serenity - "Those Left Behind Volume 2" Serenity - "Those Left Behind Volume 3" These should be readable with CDisplay, if memory serves. That's what I use, at any rate.
DISCUSSION:
I really think that Firefly is going to stay my all-time favorite TV show. When they switch to whatever replaces DVD's, I am going to buy a set and watch it. Religiously. *Already fighting the temptation to watch Firefly again.* (House and NCIS are, of course, made of awesome but it's not the same. I don't quite feel the need to watch the series over and over again and get to know the characters like they're family. Well, House, maybe...)
Alright! Back to research. Because if you're going to build a shadow society of whores and spies, you've got to start from the ground up.
