Done with school... kinda...

Well I finished my last semester of "school" I guess you could say. However, I still have another year left for the internship at the hospital (I am keeping my fingers crossed that I get in at the hospital in my town). This semester was nothing short of a pain in the ass but I came out with A's and B's so I guess I can't complain.

Pathogenic Microbiology - B
This is one of those classes you hear about being a nightmare (on par with Organic Chemistry). I got into the class expecting it to be the hardest class I have ever taken... I was wrong. The class was not nearly as hard as people made it out to be. Yes, the teacher's tests were pretty insane in the amount of detail she wanted but at the same time... I did not find this to be that big of a problem. Vertebrate Histology still remains at the top of the list for the most difficult class I have ever taken... followed by Organic Chem II... followed by Evolutionary Biology. Regardless, this was a very enjoyable class. The teacher was probably the best teacher I have every had in my time at college. She knew her stuff backwards, forwards, upside down, etc. and she expected you to know it like that as well.

The lab, on the other hand, is a totally different story. I enjoyed and hated the lab at the same time. If it were not for those 'quizzes' the lab would not have been that bad. Looking back at it now... those were not quizzes those were tests. I mean really... who makes out a 50 question "quiz" that takes over an hour to take. Regardless, the lab portion was actually rather fun and interesting. I can't think of too many labs in college that you get to mess with gonorrhoeae. I really liked the clinical portion of the lab where you were given a test tube with two unknown organisms and we had to figure out what they were (number of tests were limited).

Biochemistry - B
One thing I like paired with one thing I dislike very much. I think I'll leave it at that.

Bio-Inspired Design Concepts - A
I am not really sure what to say about this class. I thought it was going to be something totally different from what it was. I thought it was going to be a sit around and discuss designs taken from the biological world... but I was very wrong. It turned out to be a research class.

Mammalogy - B
I do regret not taking more classes in the Wild Life and Fisheries department (Mammalogy). I enjoyed that class quite a bit. The lab was probably the most fun I have had in any lab at college except for Pathogenic. While the lecture was not the most fun I have had... I did learn a lot of stuff about mammals I did not know.
