Why a leek?

Fenglei loves this character:



which is the mascot for a voice synthesizing software called Vocaloid. This particular Vocaloid is named Hatsune Miku.

So somewhere along the line someone thought it would be a good idea to have Miku sing a polka while waving a stick of leek.

So then we saw this:



selling for $12.90 or something.

Naturally I announced "I can do that!" and promptly went to Daiso to get three balls of yarn and a crochet needle.

It turned out this thing needed less than two balls of yarn and half a pack of stuffing. It cost me less than $6.00. Now I have a floppy crocheted leek which Fenglei waves around ecstatically.
