last night's dream

Jul 14, 2008 12:22

Here's something new to know about me: I have very vivid, very involved dreams. Often surreal, they make sense at the time and very little when I've woken up. My dreams are long and detailed, complete with character development and backstory. Sometimes they're in bizarre colours, like the heat colours of yellow, orange, red and green, or like a ( Read more... )

Ahhhhh, Dreams... impeccablesimon July 15 2008, 01:39:36 UTC
Somewhere in my great multitude of posts there exist a couple of dream posts I made. My dreams are so vivid that I often believe I will wake up in the afterlife or seriously wounded. You see, the colors are vibrant, the dialogue is top notch, and the scenes are so real that I often feel as if my dreams are reality...at least while I am in them.

I'm sure with the amount of stress am currently under, I will end up have a few more doozies to post. We'll just have to see how my dreams turn out.

"the dialogue is top notch"

That made me laugh. I think it's the writer in us, all the plotting and details and "top notch" dialogue :) (you have some remarkably eloquent sentences on your LJ, they're quite beautiful)

Why thank you. I've always been a fan of the English language; and every so often my wordsmithing creates something worth sharing.

It works best when you stop trying doesn't it. I've given up the hope that I might have some beautiful, poetic way with words - I don't seem able to come up with those brilliant new metaphors that make writing (sometimes) fresh, for example. My writing's not clever, so I've settled for focusing on telling a damn good story :)

I end up hating it when I try to 'take over' the dream, it's funny though, I feel ripped off when the irrationality of the dream is lost.

The last couple of nights I've been too crook to have dreams, Ant has to keep waking me to stop me snoring. I've got a shocking head cold that doesn't seem to want to let up. Grrrrr!

*Hug* Hope you get better soon Fer - sending warm fuzzies your way :)

Yeah I don't like it when I dictate my dreams either, like when I try to prevent something scray from happening I usually just make it worse and it ends up terrifying me. It's nicer when they don't make sense in true dream fashion, they tend to stay in dreamland better!

Have you ever had one of those dreams where it's almost a nightmare, and you think you've woken up enough to stop the dream but then it picks up from where it left off. You then have to really wake yourself up or else the dream won't go away. I hadn't had one of those in ages until the other night - bloody awful one too!

Hugs right back at you! I'm feeling a bit better today, at least the nose has stopped it's continual run! X Fer.

Yes, ones where I kind-of wake up, like a doze, and my dream keeps going only I can control it more and it gets scary (or scarier), and yeah, you have to really force yourself awake and then it stays with you like a foul taste in your mouth.

Good to hear you're feeling better! :)

Haha, I'm glad I'm not the only one. I like it when I can remember them when I wake up. I would say one of my personal favorites was when we were all trying to defend ourselves against a zombie attack at my parents' house.

A zombie attack is a favourite dream?? Sounds like a nightmare to me! I don't like zombies *shudder*

Ok, how can I explain this... it was a really dorky zombie attack. There was no blood in the dream. The part I remember the most is that we heard some noise in the basement, so we went downstairs... and one of the volunteers from work was sitting on top of a huge stack of boxes watching two perfectly normal looking guys below. One had a video camera, I think. The other one had a baseball bat. At some point the guy with the baseball bat started beating on the other guy, and the guy was just laughing, and suddenly we (my fiance and I) realized they were both zombies, because neither one of them was getting hurt! That's why Pat was on top of the stack of boxes. So we had to rush the zombies and get Pat out of the basement ( ... )

Actually I think it does make sense! Did you ever see Shaun of the Dead? A zombie movie satire. I don't like zombie movies but this one is real fun.

I have those starnge kind of dreams too, and I remember them for about five minutes after I wake up, but they fade away as I get on with my day. I had one last night, and all I remember about it was that it had something to do with work, only I was working in the place as now, but at the same time I was living in Foley.

Mine always fade too, if I remember them at all. I tried writing them down once but it would take me so long, and they would end up being ten pages long!

Why yes, yes it is. And if you want one then you should know there is an entire community just for Josh icons. I forget the name of it. But it's actually kinda creepy...

Colourful dreams - the sign of a creative mind, apparently. I love reading about people's dreams - it's bizarre to think about. My mother just tends to have "themed" dreams - and they're usually about water. You've got a proper story working. Sometimes my dreams will have a story (like being kidnapped by pirates and taken to a pantomime animal colony) and other times they'll be about ballroom dancing with some giant potatoes.
