kale soup, buttermilk poundcake

I've been feeling the need for cookies or something, so this morning I made http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Buttermilk-Pound-Cake-II/Detail.asp, almost as written. No lemon stuff, a bit of almond extract. sugar cut down to 2.5 cups, half of it light brown. checked it after 60 minutes, was done at 80. The buttermilk, eggs, butter were all from SouthMountainCreamery. I ate way too much, since my mouth kept wanting to taste it.

We also belong to the SouthMountainVeggies CSA, so since they sent us curly kale, multicolored carrots, and potatoes, I made the soup the suggested - http://smveggies.deliverybizpro.com/blog/?p=122 . Double quantity, except used only 1c of wine total (replacing the other cup with water, when I added the kale), and 8 cups of chicken stock (Swansons Low-Sodium, since we are out of our own stock), instead of some of that being water. I realized that I should have maybe added 2c more of water now, but oh well. I forgot to add a chili pepper, but we added some super hot chili powder, and all was good. I also added more potatoes than they said, because I like potatoes. Overall, a success.
