this was cool -- may become a tradition. About a dozen people here over 11 hours (the party was possible as of 10AM, people started arriving at 11. There were never more than 8 people here at a time, so it never felt crowded.
Food (normally new people arriving = new course of food appearing): breakfast strata (like a savory bread pudding), frittata (thanks glitta/firty!), pumpkin waffles (thanks again glitta/flirty for the extra waffle irons!), multigrain pancakes, sausages, french toast (some of it from the picnic bread!), poptarts (thanks allah_sulu), pulpy OJ (Thanks PainterJess!), gallons of ethiopian/yergatschef blend coffee (thanks gwiii!). We also had a box of random candies and chips and cookies and wasabi peas and things, courtesy of Santa.
on screen: SuperPowers: Galactic Guardians (aka, last season of superfriends), goonies, weird al show, animaniacs,[now on the projector screen] Dumbo's pink elephant scene (several times),breakin'2: electric boogaloo (up to the appearance of the mime), robot chicken, invader zim, the tick vs. season 1.
presents (totally unexpected, so thank you all!): Moulin Rouge DVD, Physics of Superheros book, supa-cool onion etc. chopper, hot chocolate (not hot cocoa), t-shirt with a diagram of the JASON, homemade sugar cookies, truffles. plus some DVD lending occurred, and I'll be adopting/buying someone's vertigo comics.
costumes: I did encourage wearing of sweats and PJs, so allah_sulu was in white sweats and cartman slippers, complex had on guiness sleepy pants and unique san francisco felt slippers, painterjess had a purple PJ set topped with an anime character sweatshirt (I feel I should know who it was, but I'm blanking...it was one of those shirts with just facial features appearing, to make the whole torso the character's face), NinjaTrish was all in black, of course (except her socks), others said "this is what I sleep in" or "you don't want to see what I sleep in," but if I'm missing anyone with a specific interesting clothing item, feel free to remind me. I had on sleepy pants and a
muppets appreciation shirt.
Ironkite worked super hard keeping the kitchen going, and this was all supa cool. Happy New Year, everyone!!!
