Kiki Kannibal's Best of 2007 List.
Please tell me I'm not the only one that's disgusted (that's the closest word I can think of) by this?
Especially the first sentence. GAWDDDDDD!
Why am I lurking Buzznet anyways? It's like LJ/MySpace/FaceBook/YouTube in one, only it's a online community full of fucktards (Who still says "This is the sex?" Last time I checked, people said that shit in like 2005, when it FINALLY died. Apparently, I'm mistaken). Goddammit.
I'm going to rant about this (in my head, don't feel like typing it out) because it's actually distracting me from my problems as well as my 100 point philosophy paper (that was due last Thursday). If I didn't have a consequentialist view of things right now, I'd bash my head on my walls so fucking hard, I would be pouring blood and (not-so-hopefully) resulting in me being rushed into the ER. I'm supposed to be taking a nap right now, wtf.
Top 10 Songs of 2007 (in no particular order):
1. ( Fork and Knife ) - Brand New
2. Mandala/Your Friends Are Gone - Circa Survive (and to think "Your Friends Are Gone" was my least favorite song when On Letting Go came out, hah.)
3. This is For Real/Fell In Love Without You - Motion City Soundtrack (They're too damn catchy!)
4. Heimdalsgate Like a Promethian Curse - of Montreal (Ohhh, chemicals. C'mon, chem-ih-cuuuuuhls<3)
5. The Salesman, The Husband, The Lover - TREOS
6. Better Babes (Feat. Ben Grimm) - XO Skeletons
7. Carry On - Bayside
8. Hallelujah/Paper Bag - DatH
9. Welcome to the Birdskull Palace - Jaguar Love
10. Crank That (Calvary Boy) - I Set My Friends on Fire, ftw. This list wouldn't be complete without this. I don't know the ~official title, but whatevs.
Top 10 Albums (in no particular order, again):
1. On Letting Go - Circa Survive, duh.
2. Small Steps, Heavy Hooves - Dear and the Headlights.
3. Planet of Ice - Minus the Bear.
4. The Reminder - Feist.
5. Wincing the Night Away - the Shins (which so happens to be the first CD I bought this year along with "Please Come Home" by Dustin Kensrue, which isn't going to make it on the list, womp womp).
6. Colors - Between The Buried And Me.
7. Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer? - of Montreal (I totally thought this was 2006, good thing I checked Amazon since I'm running out of ideas.)
8. The Needles The Space - Straylight Run
9. Neon Bible - the Arcade Fire (Same with of Montreal, could've sworn this was 2006 too.)
10. Self-Titled - Boys Night Out (So much better than what I expected from them, especially following Trainwreck, for crying out loud. So just for that they get to be on here, and because I'm seriously out of ideas for this.)
M(US)IC - Damiera. Fuck yes. (I totally forgot that this was released this year too.)
(I haven't listened to new Stars, Band of Horses, Clap Your Hands, Architecture, LCD Soundsystem, BSS, Les Savy Fav, Elliott Smith, Spoon, Idlewild, Modest Mouse, Iron & Wine, Blonde Redhead, Animal Collective, Devendra Banhart, Deerhoof, !!!, Menomena, Apples in Stereo, Rogue Wave, Maxïmo Park, Interpol, Björk, Daft Punk, Dashboard, Armor, JEW, Saves the Day, ATAL, Zolof, Streetlight Manifesto, Dillinger Escape Plan, Pinback, Pharaohe Monch, Aesop Rock, etc. etc. I know, I know, shoot me or get me an
Amoeba gift card.)
Top Miscellaneous:
1. Most listened to record
My
last.fm tells me it's probably a tie between On Letting Go and The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me.
2. Most listened to song
No idea, I don't have the Top 25 played songs playlist on my iPod. Probably Am I Ready? - Spitalfield though.
3. Best Concert
Brand New both times (Avalon and Wiltern). Brand New fans are interesting.
Circa minus Warped Tour (well, sort of. Pew pew!; Avalon and Glasshouse).
The Format (Avalon).
Spitalfield (Knitting Factory) and Rufio (Glasshouse) farewell shows.
GlassJAw reunion show (Glasshouse; minus me not being able to breathe most of the time thanks to the fat ass wannabe bro behind me).
4. Concert/tour you were most bummed that you missed
The first ever MySpace Music Tour!
NOT.
Instead of sulking at home for the first night of Circa, I should've gone to the Knitting Factory to catch DatH since they just left that tour. I noticed this like, the day I went to Daygo and felt stupid.
And Minus the Bear not coming close enough to LA because Glasshouse isn't public transportation friendly!
Of Montreal at the Avalon. Tickets were $20, wtf. And they don't sell tickets at the box office anymore and Ticketmaster overcharges.
The New Pornographers at the Henry Fonda. The first night, I had to work on an English paper, the second night, I was too fuckin' tired to go. Too bad I dropped my English class shortly after this.
Architecture in Helsinki at the Troubadour. November wasn't a good month for me, I was broke.
THRILLER, Graf Orlock, and Blues I think? at some bar in Hollywood too.
5. Best musical surprise of the year
I think I already said Boys Night Out.
6. Worst musical letdown of the year
Say Anything's new CD (I don't remember what it's called and don't give a shit). It's so dumbed down for 14-year olds across the nation tuning into their local pop radio stations.
The Big Dirty - Every Time I Die. I tried so hard to like it but, but there's just something about it that I hate.
We Are the Night - The Chemical Brothers. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either (comparing it to past albums). Same with Even if it Kills Me - Motion City Soundtrack, I guess. Maybe I need to give it more listens.
And to more important matters.
Hot Cross breaking up SHORTLY AFTER announcing that they were going to tour with Fear Before, and how Fear Before posted the bulletin about this saying something along the lines of "Oh yeah, we forgot to say this in our last bulletin about our tour, but Hot Cross broke up. And we have this other amazing band to back us up instead, YouInSeries!" God, that made me so mad.
And Hidden In Plain View, The Early November (hiatus bullshit status), Reggie and the Full Effect, Rufio, Death From Above 1979, Some Girls, Spitalfield, Waking Ashland, some other bands I'm probably forgetting broke up this year, what the fuck.
And the Blood Brothers for not waiting until 2008 to break up. Everyone knew it was going to happen eventually anyways.
7. Favorite Movie
Well, I wish I saw Across the Universe, the Darjeeling Limited, Lars and the Real Girl, Wristcutters: A Love Story, etc. but did I? NO.
Nightmare Before Christmas in 3-D, ftw.
8. Favorite TV Show
DO NOT WANT!
9. Favorite Video Game
If I played GH3, I would say that.
10. Favorite Web Site
Wikipedia for obvious reasons, and
Urban Dictionary for laughs when I'm a bit past buzzed but not quite drunk yet.
I think this is the first post in like a month I haven't written about the shitty situation I'm stuck in right now. My goodness. Thank you, retards of the world on the interwebs.
Why is Paramore nominated for a GRAMMY? Am I the only person that's thinking WHAT THE FUCKING HELL ARE THOSE MOTHERFUCKERS ON THE GRAMMY COMMITTEE THINKING NOMINATING FUCKING PARAMORE?! I really hope not. If I am, there's no fucking hope.
Oh, and I'm fucking sick and tired of seeing faux-nude/pubes band pictures. This trend is spreading faster than fucking VD. I'm ready to notify the FCC or something of these terrible, not-so-lewd pictures. Fuck.
Talking shit makes me feel so much better.
Being mad at the world > feeling sad, by far.
