"Maybe it will never be like that for me. Maybe I'm not the kind of girl who inspires guys to spontaneous midnight visits and secret-message gift giving. Maybe I'm just like all the other girls who pretend they're content with this, when really they're longing for something more."
"Life doesnt give you the people you want. It gives you the people you need. To help you. To hurt you. To love you. To leave you. And to make you into the person you were meant to be."
"He treats you like dirt, you know. And I hate to see you hurt. It's only because I care about you. Because I care what happens to you."
You said you think I want someone for you who is perfect, and no one is. But that's not what I want. I mean, it is of course, but I fully realize that's an impossibility. No one is perfect, because everyone is broken. Everyone has had pieces of themselves chipped and whittled away by everyone who ever hurt them, who ever left, who ever lied to them, or died, or just wouldn't try. But there are people out there for everyone, including you, who fit into those holes, into those chipped cracks, whose strengths accommodate your weaknesses, and weaknesses will be held fast by your strengths. That is the type of person that I want for you. Someone who completes you. Not someone who makes you more fragmented, who leaves you reeling with hurt and confusion. Not someone who deepens the damage you already have. I don't want someone to fix you, because you're not broken. You're you, and what I want for you is someone who sees that, appreciates that, and wants to do just as much for your cracked and tortured soul as you're prepared to do for theirs. Because that's what everyone deserves. The right person. The person who fits their fissures. Not just the person who's willing to try and make it fit. That's how you create more cracks.
That's all I want for anyone I love.
