I think I must be the only person in the world who didn't like the new 'Star Trek'. The single quotes are intended -- this isn't anything like true to the spirit of the franchise. I'm really disappointed.
Yes, the casting was inspired. They did a good job of physical matching and the accents are well-done. I'm especially fond of Karl Urban's McCoy.
But I think that handing the movie to a non-fan was a mistake. Of course, I'm not a big Abrams fan to begin with. So surprise, surprise, the pacing is weird and the plot doesn't make any sense. Haven't we seen these issues before? Alias, Lost -- I'm lookin' at you.

Edited to add: Nope. I'm not the only one. Jim sort of liked it, and
his scenario of the behind-the-scenes is way funny. But of course. He's a real writer. :)
