serratia recently posted about being contacted by an old acquaintance. I don't think this is the same thing, but I have an electronic postcard that bears the subject line:
"Hy there! It has been a long time since I haven't heared about you!"
I am pleased to say that no-one I know could possibly have typed that line, and since it appears to have been mass-mailed to everyone at my place of work, I feel safe in deleting it as spam.
But the construction of the sentence still bothers me -- if it has indeed been a long time since the sender has not heard about me, does this mean that I am a subject of continual discussion? Who is this person, and why does s/he feel the need to taunt me for being the stuff of gossip? Why? Why?
