we had a really nice weekend, so nice in fact, that i am reluctant to get back into the work mode.

we left thursday afternoon and drove up to lenox, ma to visit with anton's dad and girlfriend.  we talked for hours on end and laughed and shared stories.  friday we visited the Sedgwick Pie,  the odd resting place of the Sedgwick family (think ancestors of Edie and Kyra) where the eldest were buried in the center and all the relatives are buried feet facing in, all around, in a large circle.  it was creepy and damp, and we read poems off of their tombstones and i took pictures of carved lambs and angels.  finally the mosquitos became too much and we moved on (sidenote: why do i get more mosquito bites than anyone i know? sweet blood?).

saturday we drove east to the worcester area for our friend's family's bbq.  the roasted pig was amazing (photos on my fb) and we drank sangria and played basketball and i watched anton and jose duel with light up light sabers in the dark of night.  we tested the new home theater and played with the dogs.  sunday we drove back to nj and somehow managed to escape the traffic.  is it because of the new "staycation" they've been advertising?  much to our surprise, our neighborhood had fireworks that had been postponed from thursday, so we ended our evening in the field behind our house, holding hands, watching the night sky light up with colors for a full 30 minutes.  thank you tax dollars, it was spectacular.
