i love BARC.
on saturday my friend and i went to brunch in williamsburg and then headed over to BARC just to "see" if they had any kitties. I decided to play dumb about the whole process and try to forget about the awful experiences i had with the rescue people on wednesday.
the cat loft was just chock full of older cats, many of them with behavioral issues, which is so sad to see because they probably aren't going anywhere any time soon. i asked for a young female, and after showing me every single 8 year old male cat they had, i was properly introduced to a cute little girl, known on the cage as "betty boop". she was curled up and sleeping and looked a little blech, but i decided to pet her and she instantly came to life. she was very into cuddling and nuzzling, and after about ten minutes i decided i liked her enough to see what the adoption process was going to be like. they asked me to go downstairs and fill out some paperwork. halfway through filling out the paperwork they asked if i was taking her home today, i said yes, slipped some cash across the table, and in two minutes had my own kitten (she's seven months old) with a bag of kitty litter and kitten food. it was actually so easy that i walked out in disbelief that i had a kitten in a box hanging off my hand.
she's quite cute. long and way too skinny (we'll remedy that), she lost the tips of both ears to frostbite (they think) so both ears are cut off halfway down, giving them a very square look. i think it gives her personality. she chirps loudly, often, and is quick to nuzzle. anton hasn't met her yet so she doesn't have a name yet, but when she does i'll post a pic and formally introduce her.
i'm so excited. thank you BARC!
