Coyote Sands Idea (Verse 2)
I worked up a few posts involving Coyote Sands for Linda sometime last year while she was still with Adam. It works in her ties with Angela, Linderman, Adam (who did work there) and Chandra Suresh... Basically, the entire Company front runners. Why did I do this? A few reasons, Linda's back story in the Graphic Novels is full of holes. I've been trying to fill them in making her more my own character while trying to fit her in with the canon of the series itself. When I watched the Coyote Sands episodes for the first time it just clicked and it all really just made a lot of sense.
Linda was one of the many specials on Chandra's list that was showed on the computer as Mohinder started nosing around. How would Linda fit into Coyote Sands exactly?
She was born in 1951 which would have made her 10 when the Coyote Sands project was taking place. In the post I made-- which I'll link below-- Angela kind of took her under her wing as Linda's parents basically dropped her off (even though I have Linda telling people her abilities [the absorbtion/empathy aspect] began at 13, she was always able to see auras from a younger age). Angela and Alice were the only ones Linda really trusted and though she knew Linderman in that time chances are she forgot who he was over time-- or she did remember and played dumb as she is relatively smart.
I think this would further go to tie in as to why Linda was saved by Linderman through the use of Hiro (obviously sometime during Season 1, though he took her too much further into the future by accident). Linderman could have later remembered who Linda was, her ties to Coyote Sands through the Company and sent Hiro back to rescue her for some unknown reasons.
I'm thinking she may have further ties to the Company or there's some other reason he wanted her saved (as she has been written as day 1 as Linderman's 'daughter' Melissa, this is also where her fortune comes from, also she is secretly in charge of all of his old business since learning of his death)? Perhaps he thought with her empathic qualities she could be one of the few who could stop Sylar or the Kirby Plaza incident. Of course neither of those things happened due to teleporting feckary lol.
I really want to run this idea and have since I first thought of it but never had the players to do so (and though I had done a brief exploration of it I'd like to have another go and see what else can be done). If anyone would like to run this with me we could do it through Twitter or LJ (which would likely be easier). Idealy I'd like to run this starting with Linda having more dreams of Coyote Sands, maybe there is something drawing her back there? Am willing to dicuss possiblities of the story line of course :P
