university requirements

The main thing that's been on my mind tonight is, to put it broadly, my future. What that boils down to is if I'm going to be able to graduate this summer or not. Well, good thing I was thinking this cause I found a loophole that benefits the unviersity and not me. Back up, ever since Edmonds I've pretty much relied on myself to understand the ( Read more... )

hmmm this sounds all too familiar...
i'd reccommend my advisor (laura marsh), but she's 7 months pregnant and so will be out during spring quarter on maternity leave.

yeah, i've heard your stories and i'm jealous ;) I haven't meet any advisors who really advise--let me rephrase that, I've never let them advise me....

is she a general advisor or a major advisor? cause i could go ahead and talk to her now just to make sure I understand everything.

thanks!

hehehe well she and I both missed a detail at one point.
she's a CLAS advisor. i think she specializes in prenursing majors, but if you're a liberal arts and studies, you can see her!

I have no idea what CLAS means...but I am a liberal arts (well, English, and it's in that school)

What's her e-mail address so I can set up a meeting? Or do you know her office hours this term?

Thanks, Jessica, for all the information

oooh and speaking of one credit classes... i don't know if it would help, but there is a one credit library class being offered this coming friday/saturday. it's a workshop on multicultural storytelling.

CLAS is just college of liberal arts and sciences =) for appointments it's better to call the clas office, at 503.725.3514. just tell them you want to make an appointment with laura marsh. she has walk in hours too. you could always just go by the clas advising office on the 4th floor of neuberger.

good luck! if my experience/knowledge can help somebody else, all the better!!

Hmm, that's a great idea (the Lib class). Any idea what kind of work is required or anything like that?

the description simply says, "selection and use of stories from diverse cultures in the classroom and library. emphasis on sharing the oral tradition in storytelling and creative dynamics."
it's taught by Merna Hecht, who i think something said is a writer. it's cheaper than regular (out-of-state) tuition too, because it is a self-supporting class.
i'm taking it so i have enough credits to graduate summa cum laude. =)
and, it fits into my education field.

I just looked up what summa cum laude means...good for you! congrats! that's great. So are you officailly graduating after this term or spring term with internship?

Currently I'm cum laude! Haha, I'm glad they base it off of PSU GPA for this honor.

I might go ahead and take that Lib class. As an English major and ambitious writer (in my own time), that kind of class would really help...hmm...well, at least I have a few more days to think about it!

laura said i could bump up my graduation if i want, but i'm still waiting to finish off details (and decide) about the internship.
if you take it, i'll see you there!
