a garden at the end of the road

i admire gardeners of every sort. i especially admire those who lay claim to wasted urban space. this little street in Atwater Village ends at the fenced off L.A. River, and someone has done some planting here.



Rain and waste water flow into the river from this storm drain under the embankment.



most of the plants are supposed to be drought-tolerant, like this lion's ear purchased at home depot, but i'm not too sure about the bird of paradise plant to the right. i hope to see it flourish anyway, because it is the official flower of the city of los angeles, and beautiful, too.
