Parkside Manor

There's a Flickr group devoted to nothing but Los Angeles City Neighborhood signs, like this one. Did they really get one for every single neighborhood, I wondered, as I took the picture. It turns out they do have this one, taken at this very spot.
It looks so much like all those other postwar developments in Southern California, doesn't it? It reminds me very much of Lakewood. Parkside Manor is, indeed, beside a park, Ted Watkins County Park. Yahoo maps has no listing for Parkside Manor and Ted Watkins Park is on the map as Will Rogers Park. The only listing Google had for Parkside Manor was from the Los Angeles Police Department.
Where is Parkside Manor? It's in the area that is now supposed to be called South Los Angeles, but which most people still call South Central. According to Yahoo maps, it's in Watts, though the neighborhood sign for Watts is several blocks away.
