Well. So far this summer has been quite enjoyable. The play is going well I think. I love my job. I am enjoying the "fun-ness" of summer and I am learning about where I stand. I have wondered about the time line in B&B countless times. I mean, seriously. How long is she there? A week? The whole first act and second act through "Something There" take all of a day. Did it take them a year to read King Arthur? I mean, Malory's version is pretty long (if that's what it is) and reading it outloud to a dense beast could take a while. Did Maurice go back to the woods to find Belle or was he in the woods that whole time? There is definitely a time difference issue here. And what do Belle and Beast (what was his real name?) have in common, anyway? People think Belle's odd and knows what it's like to be different, but it's not like the Beast chose to be different like Belle did. Belle is an 18th Century nerd and Beast is one of those dense men. I mean, I guess reading and dancing together is a start. But do they have anything else in common? Also, do you find it ironic that Belle sings a whole song about having changed and left behind her childhood hopes and dreams but then gets her prince in disguise after all? So did she really change?
Anyway, I think Belle and Beast really aren't suited for each other and Beast and Potts should run off and Belle can go to Paris or something and meet an educated man. I'm sure Beast would be fine with that arrangement.
So I have spent way too much time with this show. Seriously. But these really are deep things to think about. I think we should get the whole cast involved. Heh.
