Dinner:
I thought my mandoline was going to end up being a white elephant. (It failed to french cut some green beans, and I lost all hope in it.) But after the way it sliced up a pound of partially frozen beef into razor thin slices, it earned a home in my kitchen. I'm glad I bought it now.
I just got back from my local Asian grocer and I'm amazed at the prices. Soup bones for a $1.09 per pound with big fat yellow marrows exposed. Yummy. Also, picked up a ton of basil, mint, and bean sprouts for about 4 bucks.
So I think Nausicaa will go down well with a big bowl of pho. (It's boiling now and smells wonderful.)
