In this little Mermaid Book that I got yesterday, the author talks about the Mermaid as "par excellance, the archetypal image and symbol of the feminine and all that it embodies: nurturing, mothering, power, sexuality, mystery, spirituality and magic." Later, she encapsulates that phrase in two words: "wild feminine".
It's a silly little book, but I'm rather liking it.
