After a truly wonderful time in Buxton, that others have already written about, Catriona, Lianbe and I headed for the train to Stockport. We cuaght it nicely - not doing a Rosie you notice! - and it trundled its way to Stockport. Now Stockport is a truly unique station, for it has a platform 0! Yes, honestly platform 0! The train to Buxton left from it in the morning, and the train to Doncaster on the way home. We stood there waiting for it, for we'd got to Stockport with just nice time to get it, when there was one of those station announcements! Yes, it had been cancelled! Electrical/signally things if I remember rightly. So we had to ask a man in a red coat when the next train Sheffield way went. To put your minds at rest, he didn't work for Nutlins but for the station!. We had 30 mins till the next train to Sheffield instead of a nice through run, but never mind. Timings were still OK as we got to Sheffield in perfect time for the7.59 sloooow train to Doncaster. It made the Buxton train seem like an express!
