Becker entered his flat, removed his coat, and went to the window, gazing out with unseeing eyes.
“When are you going to let me go?” came a voice from behind him.
“I can’t let you go, not yet, maybe never.”
“You have to let me go or you’ll never be able to move on, and neither will I.”
Becker turned, looking into dark brown eyes, and was immediately transported back to that day when he’d held Connor in his arms and watched as the life and light left them.
“I can’t let you go,” he choked out, “ not yet.”
