A/N: This is a Birthday drabble for Fredbassett. Sorry, it’s very angsty but it’s what came to mind. No beta so all mistakes are my own.
The dawn was bright and the sun was shining through the window on the elderly couple.
He’d known he was dying and his last thought was of the woman he’d loved for so many years.
“Take care of your Mum,” he’d said to their children as they crowded around his bed.
His deep brown eyes held her tear-filled gaze, those blue eyes he loved so well, “Don’t cry, Love,” he whispered, “it’s my time,” and with his last breath, “I have always loved you.”
She held his hand as he slipped away and said softly, “I’ll be with you soon.”
