Talk about unprofessional behaviour

Just heard something from my mom that made me rather mad.

Apparently my dad's company doctor has been telling his other colleagues (during the occasions that they go to see him) that my dad's stroke 1+ year ago could have been prevented, that he got it because he had hypertension but refused to take medication, and he's even been saying things like my dad's son (i.e. me) is a doctor but can't even take care of him, and that resulted in him having the stroke.

WTF.

Firstly, during the entire course of my dad's admission and many months after his discharge, there was not a shred of objective evidence, based upon the multitude of blood pressure readings they do in hospital, that he was in any way hypertensive. And he was not even on any anti-hypertensives until like maybe half a year ago. So, to claim that he was already hypertensive before the stroke based on his one or two readings in the clinic, at times when my dad was seeing him for other complaints, is complete bollocks.

Secondly, is there not an issue of patient confidentiality that is being betrayed in this case? Even if his colleagues may know about his condition, the doctor should not be tattling to them about my father's condition and making the kind of disparaging and negative remarks that he does. What is his aim in doing this? Of course, I don't have objective evidence besides the second-hand words of my dad's colleagues that they relate to him, but surely there can be no smoke without fire.

Thirdly, for a doctor to openly make comments on another doctor without having seen him or spoken to him, and based on his own limited understanding of the entire picture, is nothing if not unprofessional behaviour, and it really gets me galled that this is the kind of person my dad is made to see because of his company's medical policies.

Seriously wondering if there's any case for a complaint, but like I said there really isn't much evidence to go by. Just really pissed off and this shouldn't be the way I have to end off what was otherwise a great day.
