Well... this is... interesting...

Every once in a while, I run a Google search on my username, and on my real name, the Husbandly One's real name, the kids' names, etc, just to see what comes up, and to keep track of things.

Today, on a whim, I ran a Google on "Impertinent Daughter," just to see what comes up. And I ran across an entry from an LJ user who is a fellow member of eat_my_bento, ( Read more... )

impossible son, huh???, kids, grumblings, impertinent daughter, full fury, wtf??

Don't let this person get to you, I've always thought you referred to your children as Impossible Son and Impertient Daughter because you didn't want to share their real names!

I use Dash and Violet (names from the Incredibles) and people have gotten on my case for using their real names (hello, they aren't) but I call my kids 'Miserable Children' as a JOKE, if someone doesn't get it, don't waste a thought on them.

Well, you know, what absolutely threw me about it was... that she got the impression that I didn't like my kids from the few (meaning probably one or two) entries she'd read. That she'd picked up such negatives from what I had written, and... well, I was just dumbfounded.

But you're right. I should definitely not let it get to me!

Ugh, I hate when people take things out of context.

I for one have ALWAYS thought the names for your kids were super adorable. Anyone that doesn't understand calling a little boy the "Impossible Son" has probably, in my opinion, never actually had to deal with little boys.

I have three younger brothers. Impossible Son sounded like a great name to me. :P

Life with a boy is definitely different! I remember one day, when I was changing Mr. Impossible's diaper, when it suddenly occurred to me that I was actually responsible for someone's penis!! Talk about a surreal moment!! THO died laughing when I told him that later, but he agreed that it was true!

And thank you. You've greatly reassured me and helped me feel better!

That woman obviously never actually read the post you made. Anyone with even half a brain cell can tell you mean absolutely no disrespect to your kids and *GASP!* love them very much.

She was just being stupid and probably wanted to stir up trouble. Ignore her if you can, hon.

Thank you. It made me worry that perhaps what I intended in my posts... and what was actually coming across... were two different things. I will say, though, that it reminded me how much personal experience can influence our perceptions of what we see and read.

I have to leave for work, or I'd write something longer. Briefly: That woman? She's an idiot.

And you're one of the strong parenting roles I have online. I treasure your posts about your kids, because I'm too paranoid to post much about mine, and it makes me hungry to read about other families. Especially families who are doing it right.

Thank you! I'm glad you think I'm "doing it right," I sure hope like hell I'm giving my kids a better childhood than the one I had, that's for certain!
