Well, that was lame.
Yeah, just watched the Doctor Who TV movie. That was … campy as hell, but not as bad as I was expecting. I mean, my eyes didn’t burn, but Eric Roberts almost made them! (Seriously, that man? Spawn of Satan, I swear. He just gives off these clouds of evil. Not even good evil, like Ainley!Master, or sexy evil, like Alan

Yeop, canon, at least since they made an effort to link the TV movie in with some of the NewWho episodes (note Eight's face among sketches of Doctor-incarnations come and gone in the "Journal of Impossible Things" and also Eric Roberts' voice among the Ainley!Master giggles and whatnot when Professor Yana looks at his watch).
Huh ... I'm gonna twist that to suit my fancy. It doesn't make much sense for the Doctor to be half-human, despite the fact that he appears to be assimilating into human-culture presently. I believe that is a reaction to not having a home anymore, like immigrants. He can't very well live in 'Gallifrey Town' so he's taking on human behaviors. Which is why whenever he breaks out into 'Oncoming Storm' mode it's so terrifying, and it seems like he's two different people.
(God, I've missed out philosophical discussions on the Doctor ...)
I kinda knew about One's heart-thing, I was just grasping at straws.
the half-human thing may be why so many of the Doctor's regenerations are difficult
The Master's latest regeneration was made to look exactly like Nine's into Ten ... but following your theory, that was that because Yana's body was human.
and the erratic piloting of his TARDIS (though there are indications that's because the Doctor likes chaos and deliberately encourages that kind of behavior).
That's the Doctor! Necessary force of Chaos! Trickster! 'The Fool' in the Tarot deck!
I wonder why Gallifreyans look human. *ponders*
Yes, Eric Roberts, if we forget he looks like Eric Roberts, has the potential for a very seductive voice. But his lips ... they are evil ... *hides under the desk, rummaging about for my katana*

Ooooooooooooooooo ... you're right! *shivers*
I agree with you about the Doctor's adoption of human ways and his reasons for it. Physically half-human or not, I'm sure that's a big reason for a lot of it. And it does create a startling dichotomy between his usual fuzzball self and OMGDoctor'sGonnaEatMe! Which I give them points for. That's a successful technique.
*nodnod* It's much scarier when he goes all Oncoming-Storm on someone's ass when he's usually endearingly ADHD ...
I think there's a fair amount of "It never looked like that before!" that's settled firmly into "don't ask" territory because we can simply do fancier things with computers these days.
Yeah, for that I am grateful, though ...
Still, I was wondering if the people in the 'The Doctor is HALF-HUMAN!' camp picked up on the fact that when the Master (who was human) regenerated, it looked exactly like Nine;s (who they would claim was half-human) regeneration.
